Medium rating of The Black Prism (Brent Weeks): 6Stars
Opinion of The Black Prism (Brent Weeks): Entertaining begining of a series of fantastic books. Magic, colour magic, politics, pirates, war, magic dagger, unknown Father, attacked village, assassins, losing magic, magic boy, complicated family, unknown powers.. . It is worth buying.
Guile is the Prism, the most powerful man in the world. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. Yet Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live. When Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

Review of book The Merciful Crow (Margaret Owen) / The Merciful Crow Series 1
Medium rating of Cursed (Margaret Owen): 7.8 Stars
Opinion of Cursed (Margaret Owen): The beginning of a good series of books, at first the book does not engage but as the pages go by it improves. Caste, plage, fugitive prince, magic, witches, run away, deal, betrayal, seek refuge. It is worth buying this book.
A future chieftain. Fie abides by one rule: look after your own. Her Crow caste of undertakers and mercy killers takes more abuse than coin, but when they’re called to collect royal dead, she’s hoping they’ll find the payout of a lifetime. A fugitive prince. When Crown Prince Jasimir turns out to have faked his death, Fie’s ready to cut her losses and perhaps his throat. But he offers a wager that she can’t refuse: protect him from a ruthless queen, and he’ll protect the Crows when he reigns. A too cunning bodyguard. Hawk warrior Tavin has always put Jas’s life before his, magically assuming the prince’s appearance and shadowing his every step. But what happens when Tavin begins to want something to call his own?

Review of book Cursed (Keri Arthur) / Kingdoms of Earth & Air Series 2
Medium rating of Cursed (Keri Arthur): 6.8 Stars
Opinion of Cursed (Keri Arthur): Entertaining as the first book, it is set in the same world but with different characters although the threat remains the same. Air magic, earth magic, magic, soldier, ancient enemy, discover powers, invasion, magic sword, true heir, Warlord, romance, slave, crown heir, stolen throne, mistreatment. Entertaining to read.
Whomsoever draws the sword from the ancient seat of this land shall rule it, and they shall bring peace and prosperity to its people. For nearly a thousand years, the first born son of every Cannamore King has drawn the sword, and the land and her people have indeed prospered. Princess Nyx Bel-Hannon is neither male nor first born, but it is her hand that draws the sword rather than her twin brother’s. As a reward, she is given a prison rather than a throne. But a deep darkness now spreads across the Kingdom, and her borders are threatened by creatures capable of magic powerful enough to destroy mountains or split the land asunder. Without the true heir to wield the sword, Cannamore risks annihilation. The King and crown prince want nothing more than to be permanently rid of Nyx, but cannot afford her blood on their hands. Instead, they give her to a highland warlord in the hope he will do what they dare not.Nyx has no intention of letting the highlander get in the way of her thirst for revenge or the need to reclaim her throne. But it’s a quest that may well destroy the kingdom she loves.Because Nyx has been cursed by the god of war. It is her destiny to save Cannamore. Or utterly destroy it.

Clairvoyant Cassie Palmer has inherited new magical powers including the ability to travel through time. But it's a whole lot of responsibility she'd rather not have. Now she's the most popular girl in town, as an assortment of vamps, fey, and mages try to convince, force, or seduce her and her magic over to their side. But one particular master vampire didn't ask what Cassie wanted before putting a claim on her. He had a spell cast that binds her to him, and now she doesn't know if what she feels for him is real or imagined…

Vampire hunter, vampires, vampire council, werewolves, hybrid, vampire rogues, double bounding, love triangle, millionaire werewolf..
Opinion: Phenomenal book, the beginning of a series that looks great. A great book to buy, give and lend.
Some secrets are dangerous. This Secret is deadly. For Secret McQueen, her life feels like the punch line for a terrible joke. Abandoned at birth by her werewolf mother, hired as a teen by the vampire council of New York City to kill rogues, Secret is a part of both worlds, but belongs to neither. At twenty-two, she has carved out as close to a normal life as a bounty hunter can. When an enemy from her past returns with her death on his mind, she is forced to call on every ounce of her mixed heritage to save herself and everyone else in the city she calls home. As if the fate of the world wasn’t enough to deal with, there’s Lucas Rain, King of the East Coast werewolves, who seems to believe he and Secret are fated to be together. Too bad Secret also feels a connection with Desmond, Lucas’s second in command… Warning: This book contains a sarcastic, kick-ass bounty hunter; a metaphysical love triangle with two sexy werewolves; a demanding vampire council; and a spicy seasoning of sex and violence.

Opinion: Very good book of a thief with an almost human AI trying to survive in a corrupt world, a book with enough action. A great book to buy, give and lend.
When renowned archeologist Gav Gendin finds an Ancient starship, and a stasis chamber with a living member of the extinct alien race inside, he knows something strange is going on. Visions and dreams aren't the normal way archeologists uncover artifacts, but that's what guided him to the Ancient ship. The discovery should be the greatest triumph of his career. Instead, it ends in disaster and leads to his son, Siv, being placed in cryogenic sleep. A century later, Siv wakes to a world in decline, a world where you do what you must to survive. With the help of Silky, his father's old neural interfacing AI companion, Siv becomes the best procurement specialist on the planet. But his services belong to the criminal Shadowslip Guild who owns him. After a job goes sideways in the worst way possible, the last thing Siv expects is to be offered his freedom. But there's a catch. His target is so hot that rival criminal guilds, foreign governments, and religious extremists will risk war to get it. The Outworld Ranger series packs all the action and sci-fi fun of the stories that inspired it: Star Wars, The Fifth Element, and Guardians of the Galaxy. It has sentient AI's, alien mysteries, starship battles, quirky robots, and a space messiah.
The Benevolency Universe
For over three thousand years a superintelligence called the Benevolence guided humanity through an age of unprecedented peace, prosperity, and technological advancement. Now, a century after its collapse, our enemies multiply as we struggle to maintain our starfaring civilization and recover technology we once took for granted. But the Benevolence kept many secrets to itself, secrets that could shape the future of humanity.

Review of Earthrise (M.C.A. Hogarth) / Her Instruments Series 1
8Stars
Space merchant vessel, money problems, psychic powers, space pirates, space slavers, rescue mission..
Opinion: Good book of space adventures in a space ship with a crew of different species. A great book to buy, give and lend.
Reese Eddings has enough to do just keeping her rattletrap merchant vessel, the TMS
Earthrise, profitable enough to pay food for herself and her micro-crew. So when a mysterious benefactor from her past shows up demanding she rescue a man from slavers, her first reaction is to say "NO!" And then to remember that she sort of promised to repay the loan. But she doesn't remember signing up to tangle with pirates and slavers over a space elf prince... Book 1 of the Her Instruments trilogy is a rollicking space operatic adventure set in the Pelted Paradox universe.
